It is hard to amaze experienced audience. But architect Evgeniya Gukhman has her own special view of the nature. She photographs only objects as they are reflected in water. It doesn’t matter for her what water is nearby – river, sea, pond or puddle. Usual pictures of nature or architecture receive magic image and some mystic sense that you wish to unravel again and again. Her photographs more closely resemble paintings – delicate, colorful and poetic.” (from the article of T. Khudiakova “Reflected Nature”, in “Vremiya MN” newspaper, 4th December 2001) “Moscow’s puddles – deep, muddy and frequent as they are – can be a nuisance even for the thickest-skinned pedestrians, but for artist Evgeniya Gukhman, they are a useful tool of her trade. While the capital has no seashore, and lakes here are few and far between, puddles – whether the result of melting snow, rain or just bad drainage – are abundant most of the calendar year. This fact makes work easier for Gukhman a professional architect and amateur photographer whose current exhibit “Reflections” consists exclusively of shots of architectural objects as they are reflected in water – often, though not exclusively, in puddles… Gukhman’s photographs - which more closely resemble paintings - have already earned her many fans…” (from the article of A.Bratersky “Not for Hydrophobic”, “The Moscow Times”, 5-7 April 2002) |
